On Tuesday, 25 March 2025, a roundtable discussion on the topic “New Contours of European Security” will take place at the premises of Ukraine’s National News Agency, Ukrinform.
The urgent need to discuss this issue at the international level has arisen due to a sharp shift in political course and the United States’ de facto withdrawal from its leadership role in the democratic world. Given the current circumstances, Europe can no longer rely on the United States and is therefore compelled to develop its own security system and independently counteract the numerous challenges and threats posed in recent times by authoritarian regimes worldwide. Russia’s aggressive foreign policy further reinforces the necessity of such a decision.
Public statements and speeches by most European leaders indicate that modern imperialist policies pursued by Russia are aimed at conquering the whole of Europe, not just Ukraine. It is now widely understood that Putin’s ambitions extend far beyond Crimea and Donbas. Perhaps this is why France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have already significantly increased their assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russian military aggression.
Recognising all the challenges and threats facing Europe — both due to the United States’ effective loss of global leadership and Russia’s aggressive foreign policy — European politicians and renowned international experts see the need to discuss pressing issues of European and regional security and to propose solutions. To this end, the Institute for Global Policy is organising this roundtable discussion, inviting the President of Ukraine, Members of the Ukrainian Parliament, foreign politicians and diplomats, leaders of national liberation movements of Russia’s oppressed nations, as well as prominent military experts, political analysts, and legal scholars.
Once again, we remind you that the roundtable meeting will take place on 25 March 2025 at the premises of the National News Agency of Ukraine, Ukrinform, from 11:00 to 14:00, in both online and offline formats.
The working languages of the event will be Ukrainian, English, and Russian, as representatives of Russia’s oppressed nations will be participating, for whom Russian serves as a language of interethnic communication.
Following the roundtable discussion, all materials, proposals, and comments from participants will be forwarded to European governments and other international political stakeholders.
